Code of Conduct

We believe that successful LARP is dependent on establishing, developing and maintaining trust within our community. This code of conduct has been created as the cornerstone and primary tool for how we do this, and all players and staff must agree to uphold this code of conduct as a requirement of participation.

This CoC is expected to develop over time; you can find the most up to date version at DuchyOfDis.com/CoC. This CoC is also condensed for the purposes of brevity and ease of understanding, if you have any questions on how to interpret this CoC, please ask our staff.

  1. We agree to treat all of our fellow players, staff, organizational partners, and potential bystanders, with mutual respect. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Respecting physical and emotional boundaries, in-game and out of game.
    • Engaging in enthusiastic consent prior to physical contact or physical roleplay of any kind.
    • Respecting pronouns and identities.
    • Refraining from harassment of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, explicit or incidental ableism, fatphobia, homophobia, racism, transphobia, sexism, or xenophobia.
    • Respecting game spaces, venues, props and scenery.
  2. We agree to be mindful when consuming intoxicating or otherwise mind-altering substances while engaging in activities with our community. This means knowing our limits, and accepting feedback from staff and players concerning substance use immediately, without hostility or pushback. This also means safely arranging for a designated driver when needed and never driving while under the influence.
  3. We agree to actively and extensively respect and engage with the physical safety and emotional health guidelines and tools codified by staff.
  4. We agree that issues of cultural appropriation and disrespect of minority cultures are an intrinsic, often insidious occurrence within artistic collaboration. Because of this, we agree to do appropriate research to prevent infringement of minority cultures, and hold each other accountable with proactive conversations about cultural appropriation, without hesitation or defensiveness.

Please contact a staff member if you have questions or concerns about this Code of Conduct. If you believe a violation of this CoC has occurred, or in general feel uncomfortable at any point, speak to a trusted member of our staff, who will bring the issue to a majority of our staff team for resolution. While our processes for handling conflict are still in development, please know that we value immediate and direct communication on such matters. We will make it a priority to approach conflict-resolution swiftly and in a manner that, to the highest extent possible, restores and maintains trust to individuals who have been impacted or harmed.
